iPAL Online Learning Program Now Available Statewide for K-8 Students
The Pasco School District (PSD) is excited to announce that its Internet Pasco Academy of Learning (iPAL) program has been approved by the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) as a Multi-District Online School Program. This approval allows the iPAL program to be accessible to K-8 students across Washington State beginning in Fall 2024.
iPAL is an innovative, free, remote learning program which offers parent-coached and teacher-supported instruction with the flexibility of 100% asynchronous engagement, meaning the teachers and students engage with course content at different times.
iPAL: The Benefits of Online Learning
Flexibility: iPAL enables students to tailor their education to fit their schedules. This flexibility is perfect for accommodating extracurricular activities, family commitments, and personal preferences, offering a level of customization that traditional classrooms cannot match.
Diverse Course Offerings: iPAL provides a broad range of courses to meet students' diverse interests and academic needs. From core subjects to electives, advanced placement courses, and career readiness programs, students have access to an extensive curriculum that fosters personal growth and development.
Individualized Learning: Recognizing that every student is unique, iPAL allows students to learn at their own pace. Dedicated educators provide individualized support to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
“Every year, OSPI gives online programs the opportunity to apply for a multi-district license,” said Megan Hockaday, PSD’s Director of Virtual Learning. “This process involves meeting a lengthy, criteria-based application where we submit all our program information to OSPI reviewers. It is a very rigorous application process.”
"The approval of iPAL as a Multi-District Online School Program is a significant milestone,” added Hockaday. “By offering this program statewide, we can provide students across Washington with a flexible and personalized education. iPAL adapts to each student's unique needs, ensuring they have the support to thrive academically and personally in a secure, online environment."
Students living outside of the Pasco School District who are interested in the program can complete the Out of District Interest Form. Students residing within the Pasco School District can complete the Digital Learning Academy Interest Form located on the iPAL webpage.
